NFT animation studio Superplastic completed A-4 financing of US$20 million. This round of financing was led by Amazon. It is reported that after the completion of this round of financing, Superplastic has raised a total of US$58 million.

Alexa Fund, the venture arm of Amazon, which focuses on new media, smart consumer electronics, ambient intelligence, and other digital technologies, led Superplastic’s $20 million Series A round, with other investors including Craft Ventures, Google Ventures, Galaxy Digital, Kering Group, Sony Japan, Scribble Ventures, Kakao, Animoca Brands, Day One Ventures, and Betaworks, the latest round brings Superplastic’s total funding to $58 million and supports the expansion of Superplastic’s character universe.

Additionally, ” The Janky & Guggimon Show,”  starring Superplastic’s virtual celebrities Janky and Guggimon, is in development at Amazon Studios. The two companies have also signed a priority agreement to facilitate the creation of additional series and films starring other characters from the Superplastic universe.

Superplastic is known for creating characters that appear in a variety of media, including fashion, animated entertainment and live experiences, with Janky and Guggimon, two virtual celebrity characters developed by the studio, already achieving social media fame. ” The Janky & Guggimon Show”   follows the adventures of two lazy and terribly incompetent best friends who, bent on becoming rich and famous, leave a trail of chaos and destruction in their wake.

In addition, the Superplastic team also uses these virtual celebrity characters to develop NFTs. The team stated in the introduction, “Each SUPERPLASTIC NFT gives you access and utility in our rapidly evolving story. SUPERPLASTIC NFTs are released during episodes, and Each episode is interconnected, with stories starring Janky, Guggimon, Dayzee and the rest of the Superplastic cast.”

“Superplastic’s virtual world of celebrities has garnered a cult following in every medium they touch,” said Paul Budnitz, founder and CEO of Superplastic. Provides a new ‘playground’ for our ‘Rampage’ across the globe. We thank Amazon for their investment in helping us continue to grow the Superplastic Universe!”

“As we expand the Alexa Fund to address a broader range of consumer technologies, including the future of ambient computing, smart devices and entertainment, we are very excited to add Superplastic to our portfolio,” said Alexa Fund Director Paul Bernard. ’s virtual celebrities delight audiences and meet customers where they are, and we see them as the poster child for a new kind of IP that will become increasingly relevant to younger generations. We’re excited to be investors and continue to help Superplastic, Amazon-owned Media and The entertainment team found more ways to please their customers.”
