About Tezos Domains Airdrop
Tezos Domains Airdrop is a distributed, open and extensible naming system using the Tezos blockchain. The main function is to translate a meaningful and user-friendly alias to its corresponding Tezos address and vice versa. This translation is globally consistent so that all users see the same address for a given alias
Tezos Domains doesn’t have an own token yet but could launch one in the future because they’ve already confirmed that they will launch their DAO in 2022. Buying a domain may likely make you eligible for an airdrop if they launch an own token.

How much does a Tezos Domain cost?
The pricing of domains depends on the length:
- five-letter domains and longer cost 1 per year.
- four-letter domains cost 25 per year.
- three-letter domains cost 100 per year.
The initial auction period may drive the prices of popular domains higher. The higher price will only be paid for the first year. Renewals for following years will have standard pricing.
Why auctions?
To ensure fairness when distributing domains when they launch. Without auctions, people could spam the network with thousands of automatic registration requests within minutes from launch. The default auction period will only take 3 weeks from start to finish, because they want to open Tezos Domains to direct registrations as soon as possible.
What kinds of names can be registered?
Domains that are 5 characters or longer (not including the top-level domain .tez) can be registered at the moment. 3- and 4-letter domains registration will also open soon. Check out schedule to learn more.
They currently only allow names with latin characters, numbers and hyphens. International (Unicode) names are a strong possibility in the future though.
You can use Gravatar to add an avatar to your domain. To do this, simply:
- After signing in to Gravatar, click on View rating next to your avatar.
- Copy the e-mail hash. For example, if the page says “Email Hash: 8a983da4c80a708808922ae23413bc78”, simply copy the value “8a983da4c80a708808922ae23413bc78”.
- On the detail page of your Tezos Domain, click Edit and then open the Additional Data list.
- In the Add new key picker, select Gravatar Hash and hit Add key. Then paste the hash in the Gravatar Hash field and save the domain
